The Bowden development, which will eventually be home to around 90 Green Star rated buildings, has been awarded a five-star Green Star Rating before the first new building has even been completed.

Bowden has achieved its first a five-star Green Star rating for the Bowden Information and Sales Centre interior fitout. Bowden will eventually be home to around 90 Green Star rated buildings as every building in the development needs to achieve a minimum five-star Green Star Design rating.
The mandating of minimum five-star Green Star ratings for buildings (with some higher six-star rated buildings) will dictate the adoption of energy efficient design practices.
The five-star rating for the Information and Sales Centre is thanks to the work of the Bowden development team, contractor Arketype, sustainability consultants Cundall and the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA). Sales agent and users of the centre Connekt Urban Projects, visitors to the centre and project staff, will benefit from the achievement.
The Bowden Information and Sales Centre fit out re-uses an old building, formerly known as the Clipsal Function Centre, attached to the rear of the old Parkview Hotel (now Plant 13 Café) at 18 -19 Park Tce Bowden. A Green Star As Built rating was achieved through the efficient use of low embodied energy materials, low energy use electrical appliances and systems including lighting, and a high quality indoor environment using natural light and plentiful fresh air.
