Driving efficiency: Chevin’s new software to measure vehicle emissions
Chevin Fleet Solutions, a leading global provider of fleet management software, has introduced a newly enhanced ‘Eco Label’ function on its FleetWave software, and says it will be ready to respond to any CO2 legislation changes in Australia.
The proposed introduction of light vehicle emission standards, which currently covers 80 percent of the global automotive market, has recently been supported in a paper released by the Australian Government. Citing that all new vehicles sold from 2025 must meet a standard of 105 grams per kilometre, the proposed regulation will not be applied to individual assets, but across all vehicles sold by a manufacturer; with a view to drive vehicle efficiency forwards.
‘Eco Labels’ in FleetWave allow organisations to be able to measure the emissions of company vehicles – and sort them into different categories – and can be customised to instantly comply with any new legislation, enabling fleet managers to adhere to any emission standards set by the Government or even bespoke rules across set by company policy.
Jackie Kirk, regional sales manager, Asia Pacific at Chevin says, “Detailed environmental reporting is an increasingly important tool in the automotive sector, even more so in light of the new light vehicle emission standard that has been proposed for Australia, and the ability to respond immediately to any legislation changes is paramount.”
Chevin’s fuel management tool provides users with an accurate ‘real world’ overview of environmental performance versus stated manufacturer emissions. The new tool allows each label to be customised with specific values – including country, fuel type, minimum and maximum CO2 grams per kilometre, date of registration, letter band, and arrow colour and size. The software can be configured so that the labels are visible in the majority of FleetWave’s standard screens, and can measure the breakdown of – and help to optimise – CO2 costs that are attributed to a fleet. Presented in an easy-to-use traffic light format, Chevin’s ‘Eco Label’ function makes it easy for operators to measure vehicle efficiency, monitor performance and eliminate costly vehicles.
“Fuel consumption and CO2 output are key parameters when measuring fleet management success, so Chevin’s newly enhanced ‘Eco Label’ function is an invaluable tool for all fleet managers in the face of new environmental regulations,” says Kirk.
