New South Wales Health has released three new documents relating to cleaning that include KPIs for measuring performance and sample audit scoresheets.
New South Wales Health has released three new documents relating to cleaning, according to In Control, a software-based systems provider to the health and facilities management industries:
- Environmental Cleaning Policy: This policy aims to identify the functional areas in a healthcare facility that require cleaning and/or disinfection and outlines the frequencies to achieve the minimum cleaning standard. The policy outlines key performance indicators for measuring cleaning service performance in achieving a uniform approach to environmental cleaning in healthcare facilities. It can be downloaded from www.health.nsw.gov.au/policies/pd/2012/pdf/PD2012_061.pdf.
- Environmental Cleaning Audit Tool: The Environmental Cleaning Audit Tool is an Excel spreadsheet that has been designed to assist health facilities in conducting paper-based cleaning inspections to record the results and develop an action plan if required. The workbook contains instructions on how to use the tool, the standards to be reached for each element and a sample audit scoresheet, along with the audit scoresheet and action plan. It can be downloaded from www.cec.health.nsw.gov.au/resources/environmental-cleaning-sop/ecat.
- Environmental Cleaning Standard Operating Procedures: These standard operating procedures are divided into modules that cover the processes required to implement a comprehensive environmental cleaning program. The document can be downloaded from www.cec.health.nsw.gov.au/resources/environmental-cleaning-sop/ecsop.
