Small businesses account for nearly half of private sector employment in Australia. Energy Cut, a joint initiative between not-for-profit positive-change organisation Do Something and the Council of Small Business Australia (COSBOA), helps these businesses make informed choices in order to save on energy costs. It aims to help these businesses benefit through lower energy costs and wider productivity gains, improving their overall competitiveness and boosting continued growth.

Energy Cut offers a practical 20-step guide to save energy, such as how to better manage heating and air conditioning systems, how to control transport costs and secure financing for energy efficiency upgrades.

The initiative, which was funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Industry, includes a book and a website. Do Something’s Jon Dee, who also co-founded Plant Ark and National Tree Day, was the researcher behind the project.
