And just like that, it’s all systems go at FM Media’s HQ as we begin compiling the last of our quarterly print editions for 2026.
In March, we kicked off with the ‘Women in FM‘ edition, followed by the ‘World FM Day‘ issue in May and ‘The Sustainability Edition‘ this month.
The theme for our November edition is ‘Build-to-Rent (BTR)’.
Advisory firm BDO Australia’s ‘Build to rent 2026” report indicated that the country’s BTR sector is growing rapidly, with total apartments increasing from 39,300 in Q2 2025 to 51,000 in the first quarter of this year, and sector value increasing from $30.1 billion to $40.1 billion.
The report also indicated that the number of operating apartments will increase from just over 9000 in 2024 to more than 46,000 by 2029.
It means that, over the next 18 to 24 months, a unique opportunity will arise for facility managers working within this sector as they manage these units, which have a unique set of requirements spanning access control, centralised HVAC systems, shared amenities and cleaning protocols.
Furthermore, these facility managers will need to consider the life cycle maintenance and asset preservation plans of such units, which will continue to be owned by the developer or operator.
Attention will also need to be focused on the sustainability measures of the building, including energy and water efficiency, in order to keep operating costs low.
All of this will need to be backed by smart technologies and centralised building information management systems (BIMs) that collate data and interpret it into actionable tasks.
These are themes that you will see reflected across our November edition. It is only fitting then that this edition will be presented in association with the Living Sectors Summit.
The summit, organised by FuturePlace, an Australian B2B media, events and advisory platform, will take place on 11-12 November at the ICC, Sydney. FM Media is the Media Partner for the event.
Our November edition will be available in both a print and digital format and reach a combined readership of 50,000. The digital copy of the magazine will be shared with our database of 3750 subscribers via email newsletters.
