Genetec has announced the addition of cloud-native audio communications capabilities to its Security Center SaaS platform.
The enterprise physical security software provider is bringing real-time voice capabilities to its intuitive cloud-based interface that unifies video, access control and intrusion monitoring.
The company says the new capabilities can be particularly useful in handling operations or coordinating an emergency response for security teams in sectors such as education, retail, and healthcare.
With communications built directly into the Security Center SaaS platform, operators can interact with individuals at entry points, verify identities with live video, and take prompt actions without having to switch tools or interfaces.
The platform can support anything from a few intercoms to thousands across large enterprises.
Because it is cloud-native and built on an open architecture, organisations can scale the number of intercom devices linked to it as needed.
For now, the feature will support intercom devices from Axis, but the company says that it plans to add more vendors in future releases.
“The native integration of Axis intercoms into Security Center SaaS built with Axis Cloud Connect means customers get enterprise-grade communications without the complexity of standalone systems,” Axis Communications VP Americas Fredrik Nilsson says.
“Security teams can manage Axis intercoms directly in the same platform they use for video surveillance, access control, event-to-action automation, forensic search, data analysis, and more. This improves situational awareness and helps operators respond to incidents more effectively.”
Cybersecurity and privacy features have been built into the design of Security Center SaaS.
Along with video and access control, audio data is handled as confidential information and secured with encrypted communications to safeguard data in transit.
Audit trails provide accountability during investigations, and automated software updates with regular security patches keep the system current against emerging threats.
Last month, Genetec also announced a new AI-backed automation tool to streamline video searches. Integrated into its Security Center SaaS platform, that tool helps operators quickly locate video evidence and search for people or vehicles in live or recorded footage using natural language and advanced filters.
