Motorola Solutions is launching a locally-hosted version of its cloud-based access control platform, Avigilon Alta, starting in the last quarter of this year.
Avigilon’s physical security platform integrates video security and access control into a unified ecosystem.
It is powered by advanced AI analytics and allows security teams to detect, analyse, respond to and resolve physical threats in real time.
As regulatory authorities in Australia increasingly place a stress on data sovereignty, Motorola’s decision to localise the platform’s cloud hosting capability brings data security infrastructure for sensitive data, such as access security, onshore.
“Having locally-hosted cloud solutions is important for sectors including retail, education, local government and financial services, which need to comply with regulations that support onshore data ownership and control,” says Peter Krincevski, Motorola Solutions senior sales director for Oceania at Motorola Solutions.
“Offering end-to-end cloud instances across video security and access control enables our Australian customers to safeguard their vital physical operations while keeping their data private and secured.”
Using the platform, security teams can rapidly locate and classify individuals, vehicles and objects using Avigilon Appearance Search, while cross-referencing real-time digital credentials and event logs in Access Control Manager.
Motorola has cited Erin Living Technologies and PodGolf as among clients that are already using the platform in the country. Erin integrated Avigilon Alta Access with its resident app at the Thomas Street Apartments in Moonee Ponds, Melbourne, allowing residents to use their mobile devices to access the building and amenities. PodGolf, a provider of unstaffed virtual golf facilities, uses cloud-based video security and access control to maintain physical security across its sites.
Avigilon Alta can automatically detect unusual activity – such as loitering or acoustic anomalies such as glass breakage – and leverage video metadata to generate visual heat maps for actionable operational insights.
It sends instant mobile alerts featuring live video clips and floor plan tracking, enabling security teams to initiate automated lockdown procedures and coordinate responses to incidents.
It also supports centralised incident management through cloud-native tools, allowing teams to document, track and conclude the entire incident life cycle on a single platform.
