Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world and shade will become even more important in the outdoor spaces of a heating world.
GALE’s flagship Commercial Ninety-Five 340, Commercial Heavy 430 and Commercial DualShade 350 ranges are covered under a new endorsement from Cancer Council.
Each year in Australia, skin cancers account for around 80 percent of all newly diagnosed cancers and around 2000 people die from the disease each year. It is an entirely preventable cancer, however, with more than 95 percent of cases caused by unprotected exposure to UV radiation from the sun.
“We hope, together with Cancer Council, we can drive home prevention messaging and provide peace of mind for homeowners, schools, councils and businesses that when choosing GALE Pacific, they’re choosing high quality sun protective shade fabric,” says GALE Pacific’s senior manager – Commercial, Steven Bath.
GALE Pacific offers a large range of architectural shade fabric. It invented high density polyethylene (HDPE) shade fabric in the 1970s and today operates globally. It knits its own shade fabric, extrudes its own yarn and its Architectural Shade Fabric Range is also available in a flame retardant variant.
“GALE Pacific Commercial Fabrics not only brings innovation in sun protection,” says Tanya Buchanan, CEO of Cancer Council Australia, “but will make a valuable contribution to our research, education and support programs and services.”
