Co-working space opens at Eastland shopping centre as businesses explore flexibility
The new shared office facility in Melbourne’s outer east is the fourth business hub in the network of Waterman Business Centres.
Occupants will be able to enjoy convenience and connectivity within the retail, civic, entertainment and hospitality hub in Ringwood. Targeted at small and medium enterprises and start-ups, product offerings will include private offices, flexible co-working areas and access to conference centres, interactive boardrooms and creative breakout spaces.
Waterman’s three existing locations in Melbourne’s south-east, Narre Warren, Scoresby and Chadstone, enjoyed pre-COVID-19 occupancy of 100 percent for two years and growth plans remain on track despite the pandemic’s impacts.
“While we are still unclear on what the future looks like post COVID-19,” says Waterman leasing executive Lauren Schwab, “what we do know is that companies are rethinking their priorities and are beginning to value flexibility and convenient locations for their employees more than ever.”
Many new enquiries are from larger corporations looking to dismantle their pre-pandemic workplaces as they explore flexible workplace options, Schwab says.
There are discussions taking place about a future ‘work from home blend’, she notes, a split between working from home and the office.
Waterman Business Centres are strategically located in the outskirts of Melbourne, reducing commute times for many.
Eastland is owned by QIC Global Real Estate (QICGRE). “We consider this long-term partnership a key step in our vision to create a thriving metropolitan business district for Melbourne’s east,” says QICGRE director of Australian investment management Daryl Stubbings. “Our collaboration with Waterman not only supports our mission to grow the local economy by enabling more individuals to work, shop and socialise where they live, it will also enhance the daytime vibrancy and corporate amenity that we have been nurturing at Eastland through developments such as Sage Hotel Ringwood, Maroondah City Council’s new office accommodation on Town Square and the EastCo commercial tower currently under construction.”
The flexible workspaces will cover almost 3500 square metres of floor space on level three of Eastland.
