Perth’s Allendale Square to undergo major refurbishment
An extensive refurbishment is on the way for the Allendale Square office building in Perth’s CBD.
Property managers Mirvac has revealed a vision for the redevelopment, which includes a transformed ground floor plaza, office space and retail precinct, it hopes will create a vibrant hub for tenants and the wider Perth community.
The project involves a remodelled lobby, new end-of-trip facilities, upgraded lifts and the conversion of level 31 into office space with views of Swan River.
According to Mirvac, the showpiece of the building will be a refreshed, 1600 square metre retail precinct, which will embrace an urban industrial feel, with exposed concrete and an intricate ceiling feature of extruded aluminium to build a modern underground space.
To activate the entranceway to Allendale Square, two retail podiums will be created along St George’s Terrace to provide dining options for visitors. Access to the retail precinct will also be improved with upgraded escalators and entranceways.
Once complete, the retail precinct will feature over 18 food, beverage and service businesses, including a number of new specialist artisan retailers looking to expand into the Perth market, alongside several existing anchor tenants returning to the space.
Mirvac’s group executive of office Andrew Butler says the refurbishment of Allendale Square will give the office tower a new lease on life and reflect the high-calibre of its tenants.
“The new look Allendale Square will also contribute to the revitalisation of Perth’s CBD with improved pedestrian linkages and a premier food and beverage hub. More than a premium commercial building, the transformation of Allendale Square will make a striking contribution to the city, appealing to Perth’s discerning business community,” Butler says.
Mirvac has appointed local architect, James Christou of Christou Design Group, to the project whose vision for Allendale Square includes a glass canopy that frames the lobby and spans the ground plane.
As part of the refurbishment the building will be fully LED lit and already achieves a 4 Star NABERS energy rating and 2.5 Star water rating. The refurbishment is expected to be complete in early 2017.
