Indoor climate tech company Sensibo has announced it will integrate OpenAI’s ChatGPT into all of its smart air-conditioning products.

Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer, or ChatGPT, is a natural language processing tool that can engage in customisable, human-like dialogue in response to a prompt. Since its launch in November 2022, it has been used to write university essays, theatre plays, and automate other routine tasks – to varying degrees of success.

Now, Sensibo, a US-based brand, is partnering with ChatGPT to provide an “unparalleled user experience” of its mobile application. The app connects air conditioners to the Internet of Things (IoT).

“ChatGPT is allowing us to enable more interaction between the users and their smart ACs and heat pumps, thus providing more control over their home’s climate,” Sensibo’s co-founder and COO Omer Enbar told techAU yesterday.

How will the integration work?

According to Sensibo’s announcement, ChatGPT will be used to assist with personalised recommendations on the mobile app. The app will now suggest automated air-conditioning schedules based on the customer’s behaviour patterns to help optimise performance, comfort and energy efficiency.

‘Climate React’ personal recommendations are also tailored to individual preferences. For example, ChatGPT could recommend turning on the air conditioning automatically when the humidity in a certain room reaches 70 percent, noticing that it is always turned on at that point.

“The AI-generated outputs will also be optimised for comfort using data from more than 1.2 million HVAC actions a day, ensuring maximum energy savings for users,” says Enbar.
