The wayfinding system for 838 Collins Street, Melbourne was designed with community responsibility, commercial functionality and environmental sustainability in mind, while seeking to inform and guide visitors.

Expert wayfinding firm Heine Jones was commissioned by Lend Lease and Stable Group to design wayfinding and information in the developer’s commercial office, Lifestyle Working, at 838 Collins Street, Melbourne. The wayfinding system was designed with community responsibility, commercial functionality and environmental sustainability in mind, while seeking to inform and guide visitors.
Heine Jones has created informational signage that demonstrates the sustainable aspects of the building. Examples of the building’s environmental credentials, such as natural ventilation in common areas, efficient use of natural lighting, the City Solar Farm on the roof and rain water harvesting, are featured in pivotal points throughout the building, and the language used includes irreverent humour to reflect the relaxed nature of building. For example, a sign titled ‘SHHH, Bicycles Sleeping’ is located in the bicycle storage area.
