“Cleanup in aisle three.” The moment the store manager delivers the announcement, it’s no longer a store employee who needs to rush in with a mop and cleaning agents in hand. Instead, Tennant Australia’s new AI-powered X4 ROVR will slide up to the mess and swiftly clean it up.
The new robot can be spotted in action across several supermarkets and department stores starting this month. It has already been deployed at retailers including Walmart and TK Maxx.
The X4 ROVR is a high-performance autonomous floor scrubber which, according to the company, features precise navigation and intelligent data-driven cleaning efficacy.
Technology at the forefront
The robot can “see” its surroundings with the help of a 3D LiDAR and two lower LiDAR cameras to create a 360 view.
It detects obstacles in high-traffic aisles and easily manoeuvres while tracking its route, ensuring customer safety while navigating to the cleaning site.
It features a dual disk scrub path, a high-performance vacuum system and technology that adapts to various hard floor environments.
The X4 ROVR delivers a claimed cleaning productivity rate of up to 1860 square meters on a single full tank.
It is also supported by a lithium-ion battery that can last for around two-and-a-half hours.
“This evolution in shopping experience means spills can be efficiently handled and hygiene is prioritised. As the robot handles the floors and harder to reach areas, it’s designed to empower employees to focus on enhancing the customers’ experience and their shopping journey,” Tennant vice president APAC Markus Haefeli said.
